(My max golf distances for reference ≈ 90-100m backhand, ≈ 85-95m forehand.)
I compare all midrange discs to the Hex, which is really the only mid I throw. I do bag a Fuse, but only use it for very specific shots. That's it.
I was hoping the Quake would be a Hex that faded a little more and could take a little more forehand torque, and to a certain extent it is just that. It feels similar and releases similar to the Hex. I also LOVE the D-line base plastic. For some reason, premium plastic can feel a little slick to me, so the squeegee feel of this is so refreshing.
What I lack from the Quake is the glide that the Hex has. I wanted to have all that glide cake and eat the fade, too. Alas, it was not to be. It just wouldn't give me that buttery satisfaction that the Hex does. To be fair, the Quake has 2 less digits of glide, so this was absolutely to be expected.
So, will I bag the Quake? Definitely at max 5-speed league games, because dude, it allows for more off-the-tee forehand flex shots to maximize distance However, I won't be bringing it on normal rounds. It just doesn't do that much more for me than my Eclipse Hex, and I can flex my Tefat 3.1 or Boss a lot farther if I'm allowed to. I think a lot of people need to try this disc though, because someone out there is going to find a new favorite in the Quake.
Cheers!
